SYNOPSIS

Fickle Eulogy unfolds in the hour leading up to Ann’s delivery of her mother’s eulogy. Following her mother’s sudden death from COVID-19, Ann is alone in a room, surrounded by unfinished thoughts, memories, and the unbearable pressure to say the “right” words. Convinced the death was preventable, she wrestles with guilt, anger, and the fear of failing her mother one final time.

Both humorous and heartbreaking, the play follows Ann as she procrastinates her way through grief. Her inner world fractures into a chorus of characters—voices of doubt, judgment, distraction, and longing—that interrupt, argue, and derail her. In search of clarity, she turns to Alexa, an AI assistant whose literal, impersonal responses offer moments of comedy and surprising revelation.

Moving between memory, imagination, and the present moment, Ann revisits her relationship with her mother as preparing the eulogy becomes a reckoning with loss itself—forcing her to accept that grief is unfinished, contradictory, and deeply human.

Written and performed by Nikol Kollars | Directed by Javier Galitó-Cava | Assistant Director Ricard Ritxi Olivé | Production technician Koa Salazar
